A student from Soroti Secondary School in Uganda withdrew from the current Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) tests due to mental health concerns.
This revelation has caused anxiety among the 750 students who have registered for the UCE exam this year, as well as among other members of the school community. The afflicted student had engaged fully in all of the candidate’s briefings, mock examinations, and lectures without any prior issues.
Monday’s afternoon paper, however, was interrupted by the pupil suddenly shouting, which confused both the invigilators and the school administration.
The student’s family was informed as a result, and they later took him to the hospital for treatment. The student’s father voiced concern over the circumstance, pointing out that his son had never previously suffered any mental health concerns, which has left the family incredibly perplexed and concerned about his education and future possibilities.
The son’s family is concerned about the incident’s effects on his schooling because it’s possible that he may have to start over at Senior 1 even though he is already 20 years old. They have urged the Ministry of Education and other pertinent organizations to set up efficient support systems to help pupils dealing with comparable difficulties.
