Google Pixel Watch updated with Personal Safety Tiles

In addition to the November 2023 Feature Drop that unveiled two new Pixel Watch features, Google updated the Personal Safety app this week by adding two Wear OS Tiles.

With a single swipe from your watch face, you may “Start” Emergency Sharing or Safety Check instantly thanks to these shortcuts. Instead of opening the app list, there is a large pill-shaped button that is either red or yellow. Alternatively, you might add a Personal Safety app shortcut to your watch face.

Google even went so far as to develop an accessory to attach to the band as an explicit message for first responders. It combines the ways that Emergency SOS and Emergency info are available by long-pressing on the crown.

In the meantime, Google released an improved version of the “Wear OS Media Sessions” software last month. This should enable the business to release Now Playing upgrades outside of monthly updates through the on-watch Play Store. A media control Tile that is more enduring than the notification at the bottom of your watch face.

Two new Pixel Watch features were unveiled in this week’s Feature Drop: Call Screen (when paired with a phone that runs Tensor software) and Watch Unlock. The latter is not yet operational, as there isn’t a Wear OS upgrade as of yet. The original Pixel Watch only received the Wear OS 4 update in November, and only the LTE Pixel Watch 2 received an update.
