Missing 12-year-old found hanging

Apac District police have begun looking into the unexplained death of a 12-year-old child whose body was discovered hanging from a tree.

Three days after going missing from his house, Emmanuel Achila, a 12-year-old student at Ibuje Primary School and resident of Kakakwa Parish in Kotido District, was discovered dead.

The deceased is said to have been brought to the region by his uncle, Samuel Olila, who was employed by James Odongo as a herdsman.

But when a bull vanished on November 21, 2023, Odongo reported a theft to the Apac Central Police Station, accusing Olila of selling it without his consent.

Speaking on behalf of North Kyoga Regional Police, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema stated that although Olila was later taken into custody, the Complainant, Odongo, went back to his house and began pleading with the deceased to disclose the location of the bull’s sale.

“Odongo then turned to the youngster and began questioning him, but on Monday, the deceased left for the neighborhood and never returned. Regretfully, his body was discovered hanging on a rope on Wednesday, according to SP Okema, a police spokesperson.

According to Okema, police investigators investigated the area and took the deceased person’s body to Apac Hospital for a postmortem as they awaited the deceased person’s family.

Based on preliminary findings, police believe Odongo, who has been working with the deceased’s uncle, is the main suspect.

“Odongo remains at large, but he is our primary suspect. SP Okema said, “We beg him to turn himself in to the police so they can handle this case and do additional investigation.
