Following his death in a car accident last night, Fr. Dr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse is being mourned by the Catholic Church in Uganda.
In addition to being a professor of liturgy at St. Paul’s National Major Seminary Kinyamatsika in Fort Portal, Fr. Mudduse has been a priest in Kiyinda Mityana.
According to reports, the clergyman was returning to Fort Portal from Mityana, where he had participated in a memorial service.
Photos from the accident scene show his Suzuki, which had the registration number UAW 369C, severely wrecked.
Monday morning found no comments from the police regarding the accident.
In mourning for the cleric who had served as a priest for the last 23 years, many people turned to social media.
“God bless our brother, Fr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse! It’s unbelievable that you’re no longer among us!,” wrote Teddy Namirembe.
One Joseph Ssendawula wrote, “All in all, he has served the Lord with zeal, selflessness, and valour.”
