Uganda Cranes lit up Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on Friday night with a commanding 4-0 win over Mozambique in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
Allan Okello opened the scoring with a calm strike before Rogers Mato struck twice to give the hosts a comfortable lead.
Italian-born defender Elio Capradosi then put the icing on the cake with his first-ever goal for Uganda, rounding off an emphatic performance for Paul Put’s men.
The victory lifted Uganda to 12 points from seven games, level with Mozambique but edging ahead on goal difference. Algeria remain firmly on top of Group G with 18 points, while Guinea (10) and Botswana (9) continue to chase. Somalia sit bottom with just a single point.
It was Uganda’s fourth win of the campaign and a fitting response to their earlier defeat to Mozambique in the reverse fixture.
The Cranes now turn their attention to Monday’s clash against Somalia at Namboole before testing away encounters with Botswana and Algeria, which could prove decisive in their qualification journey.
