The Enkuuka New Year Festivity at Lubiri, Mengo, drew thousands of revelers eager to say goodbye to 2024 and usher in 2025 with excitement and grandeur.

The event was a vibrant celebration featuring thrilling performances and an enthusiastic crowd embodying the festive spirit.

However, the night was momentarily marred by an altercation involving renowned musician Alien Skin and his entourage.

Festivities commenced on a high note, with various performers entertaining the audience with captivating acts. By 11:30 PM, the atmosphere was electrifying as the crowd prepared for the countdown.

Alien Skin and his group arrived amid the excitement but attempted to force their way onto the main stage, triggering tensions. Bouncers at the entrance tried to prevent their entry, leading to a heated confrontation. Witnesses reported physical clashes between the musician’s crew and event security.

The chaos extended to the VIP section, where members of Alien Skin’s group allegedly assaulted some attendees. Security and law enforcement intervened, restoring order before the situation escalated further.

Alien Skin, a controversial figure, had faced legal trouble the previous year, including accusations of assaulting medical staff at Nsambya Hospital and vandalizing the National Unity Platform party headquarters at Makerere Kavule.

Despite the disruption, the evening’s highlights proceeded as planned. As midnight struck, a spectacular fireworks display lit up the sky, and the crowd erupted in joyous celebration, dancing, and cheering.

Adding a meaningful element to the festivities, some revelers adorned themselves with tree branches and foliage as a symbolic gesture promoting environmental conservation.

This message of unity and care for the planet stood in stark contrast to the earlier commotion, underscoring the event’s broader purpose of fostering harmony.

Although the altercation cast a shadow over the evening, the celebration ultimately prevailed, leaving attendees in high spirits as they welcomed the new year.

The 2024 Enkuuka Festivity will be remembered for its lively moments, symbolic gestures, and brief drama that punctuated an otherwise jubilant night.
