Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, also known as Salim Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), has confirmed the payment of Shs 11,100,000 ($3,000) to musician Emmanuel Suuna, aka Omulangira Suuna (OS), for producing an advert to promote OWC initiatives.

In a letter to the Presidents of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), Gen. Saleh clarified that the payment was intended for an advertisement, not a song.

He encouraged the public to compare his own previous song promoting OWC with the one produced by Omulangira Suuna, expressing his dissatisfaction with claims related to a script he provided for the project.

Gen. Saleh criticized delays and inefficiencies among musicians in promoting the OWC initiative, expressing his frustration during a public event in Gulu.

He also commented on the influx of musicians seeking financial support, adding to his frustration.

UMA President Cinderella Sanyu, aka Cindy, responded, emphasizing the importance of artists following UMA’s structures rather than relying on external influences like Gen. Saleh.

She reaffirmed that artists, not Gen. Saleh, run the music industry and stressed the role of the relevant ministries in supporting the music sector.
